Bert M. Watanabe was an alumni of Hilo High School, Class of 1957.
 
Urbdoc Academy, San Francisco, CA is a private, holistic practive deadicated to promoting the health of mankind and the planet through Sage Arts, Healing Hands, and Environmental Restoration and Activism..
 
Applicants must be a Junior or Senior in good standing at Hilo High School in the current year.
 
Task
 
  1. Applicants must read one of the two listed books:  "The Watchman's Rattle: Thinking Our Way Out of Extinction" by Rebecca Costa OR "Omnivore's Dilemma" by Michael Pollan.
  2. Identify and state 3 major points the author has made in the book.
  3. Write an essay stating whether or not you agree with each of the three points and why.  Draw from other materials you have read, your own observations and experience to support your position.  Conclude by stating what you could do with the information you have gotten from the book.  Essay must be 6-8 pages typed on 8 1/2" x 11" paper, single space, 1 inch right, left, top and bottom margins, font size no larger than 12.
  4. Submit your essay along with an essay or report you recently wrote for a class at Hilo High School.
